Morning Madness

Ever experienced the common getting up on the wrong side of the bed syndrome? Well I believe I have a cure that makes it a tad better. Not for a fact that one side of my bed is against the wall and so I always get up on the same side of the bed (no matter good or bad). Alright, I am digressing.

I have noticed many people rushing off to work and worrying about being late in the mornings. You can almost feel their frantic moods as frustrations form frowns on their faces. Some even stare repeatedly at their watches as if anticipating some miracle that will clear the crazy traffic. Many people I know have timed their journeys to work and slight deviations in traffic conditions may affect their punctuality. As a result they arrive at work in huffs and puffs, and start swearing when they see the mountainous pile of work awaiting them.

I admit I used to be a victim of morning madness. However, ever since I made the change to wake up earlier, it hardly affects me. Waking up early gives me more time to prepare for the day ahead. I make it a point to arrive early to work and after leaving my stuff in the office, I would stroll down to the nearby cafeteria to have breakfast. I used to make simple sandwiches at home and sometimes eating them on the way to work but decided to have breakfast outside these days. I wanted to isolate myself from the delirium of rushing from place to place and rushing to eat. It just didn't feel healthy.

These days as I take a leisurely breakfast before work, I am able to psyche myself to meet the day's challenges. Sipping my morning tea and whiffing the aroma of Kaya toast calms my spirit and clears the mind. With a clear mind, I am able to visualise better the situations ahead and plan for them.
