I saw a guy faint in the MRT train today. Appearance-wise he's just an average guy in his 30's, no sign of looking sickly or anything like that. Yet a sudden thud and there he was, collapsed on the crowded train floor.
Believe it or not, that is the third case I know of this year. I heard the other 2 cases from my colleagues but today I finally saw one happening right before my very eyes.
I had once written, everyone needs a seat and after seeing what happened today, I have become more convinced. Almost everyday I see stressed souls standing in the train, truly drained from the demands of work and life. The handles of the train look like nooses where lifeless men hung themselves -- it's a scene of misery and gloom.
And recently, the Minister of Transport had announced changes to the public transport (See Commuter at the Centre). Yet after more than a month since the announcement, there is no noticeable difference.
Many Singaporeans wait and hope for an efficient public transport; one that makes travelling an enjoyable experience especially after a hard day's work.
