Pete Sampras VS Roger Federer
It is indeed a dream match between 2 tennis greats from past and present when 14-time Grand Slam Champion Pete Sampras faced off Roger Federer in a best-of-3 match exhibition series. Sampras never faced a break point and handed Federer a 7-6 (8), 6-4 defeat Saturday at the Venetian Macao arena, finishing 1-2 against the top-ranked Swiss player in the last of these 3 matches.
Federer beat Sampras 6-4, 6-3 in Seoul on Tuesday and edged the American 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5) in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
It was just breathtaking watching as 36-year-old Sampras who retired five years ago after winning the U.S. Open in 2002 still made it exciting and competitive to watch with his powerful serving and crafty volleying that helped him win seven Wimbledon titles.
Federer, 26, who won three Grand Slams this year and the Masters Cup last week en route to a 68-9 record proved himself to be the World No. 1 with his fantastic performance.
What can I say? Wow is the only word that comes to mind when watching 2 of my tennis idols playing in the same court.
