A Scrooge-like friend of mine was complaining that having parties was a waste of time. He was saying that it was all a waste of time to have celebrations and not to mention a total waste of money. He had a wet-blanket attitude towards the fun and festivities that my group of friends were intending to organise.
Another friend who was listening, decided to give his two cents worth by telling him off, "Well, living is also a waste of time. Why don't you go and drop dead?"
The statement instantly dumbfounded the group because of what seemed to be a sudden moment of truth. As harsh as it sounds, it kinds of makes sense since when you look at it one way, if everything were a waste of time, then there really is no point in existence. Meeting friends for coffee is a waste of time, when you need some help just call them. Celebrating birthday is a waste of time and money, birthday is no more than growing older each year. Writing blog is a waste of time, you write for other people to read for free.
Some view living as a gift from the Creator, and life's basically what we make out of it. Life is a whole package consisting of happiness, sadness, anger, etc. Life is not complete without all the different experiences and certainly not a waste of time.
Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save.
