My ears chanced upon another inspirational story:
Once there was man who was shipwrecked on an island where no one else lived. Everyday he would pray to God for help as he looked out to sea, but alas, no ship was in sight to save him.
Being the only survivor, he taught himself to fish and hunt. He even built a nice little cottage that faced the beautiful sea. Around the cottage, he made a garden where he grew some flowers and fruits. He carved a flute out of wood and would play it every evening before supper.
One day, he decided to climb and explore a little the mountain that stretched behind on the island. As he paused to rest and to enjoy the view, he saw a long trail of smoke and realised his cottage was burning! He ran as fast as he could to save his cottage, but it was simply too late. The cottage and the garden was reduced to ashes. All that he had made including the flute were all burnt. All gone!
Filled with enormous despair, he began to curse his luck and God, "Why have You done this to me? What have I done to deserve this?". In his sorrow, he wept, laid down on the sand and gradually fell into a deep sleep...
In the morning, he was awoken by a group of sailors. Curiously he asked them, "How did you know I was here? What made you come to this island?" And they replied him, "Oh, we saw the smoke signal you had set up and immediately came to rescue you."
Just when you think all is lost in life, it may just be the beginning of something else.
