Your Story

By chance I had met up with an ex-teacher of mine and she was telling me about her work involving youth development in Singapore.

Youth Development is a process which prepares young people to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood through a co-ordinated, progressive series of activities and experiences which help them to become socially, morally, emotionally, physically and cognitively competent. Positive youth development addresses the broader developmental needs of youth, in contrast to deficit-based models which focus solely on youth problems. The vision in Singapore is to nurture World-Ready Youth that have:

Inspiration - They "dare to dream" a vision.
Aspiration - A "can do" attitude in meeting challenges and achieving goals
Resilience - A "never say die" spirit in the face of adversity
Integrity - The courage to "walk the talk"
Compassion - The passion to "serve by doing"

The National Youth Council of Singapore is currently running a research project that will change the way adults and young people in Singapore relate to each other. The project entitled One Caring Adult: What youths need in times of crisis seeks Singaporean youth to feedback via a questionaire. Details can be found here.

Help in making the project a success!
