I had recently watched Lucky Number Slevin in the cinema with a friend.
The plot talks about a case of mistaken identity that lands Slevin (Josh Hartnett) into the middle of a war being plotted by two of the city's most rival crime bosses: The Rabbi (Ben Kingsley) and The Boss (Morgan Freeman). Slevin is under constant surveillance by relentless Detective Brikowski (Stanley Tucci) as well as the infamous assassin Goodkat (Bruce Willis) and finds himself having to hatch his own ingenious plot to get them before they get him.
After the movie, my friend proudly announced he had predicted accurately that the two crime bosses would eventually be killed and I was curious to know how he came to that conclusion. Firstly, in the show, the two bosses were once friends who worked their way up in organised crime. Then they became rivals and each owned a huge city building that faced one another from across a street. They were practically "untouchable" with numerous henchmen under them.
My friend kindly explained that it was precisely that they had reached the pinnacle of their power and each believing they were "untouchable" that led to their downfall. Both had plotted bitterly against each other from their own buildings, like top leaders of two neighbouring nations bickering. Instead of working together and living in peace, they chose to abuse and exert their power through mudslinging. That provided the chance for an unsuspecting enemy to attack.
I guess my friend probably had a point and I told him he should consider being a movie director.
