A young friend of mine was telling me how love is really just a game. He had liked a nice girl but somehow could not bring himself to approach her and let her know. Knowing him and that he was usually comfortable in the presence of members of the opposite sex, it was kind of odd.
When I queried him about his apparent "shyness", all he could say that she was special and it was more than just the fear of rejection that held him back. Indeed I have heard of cases where friendships between the two sexes have gone sour when one party confesses his/her feelings. Like he said, love seemed like a game and for those in a relationship would know that one cannot rush the process of courtship.
The process of courtship from the first meet to finally being together is one that is filled with much uncertainty and many times leading to misunderstandings. My friend knows he likes this girl very much but just telling her so would just jeopardise everything. Just like the The Pretenders in Don't get me wrong:
Don't get me wrong
if I'm looking kind of dazzled
I see neon lights
whenever you walk by
Don't get me wrong
if you say "Hello" and I take a ride
upon a sea where the mystic moon
is playing havoc with the tide
Don't get me wrong
Don't get me wrong
if I'm acting so distracted
I'm thinking about the fireworks
that go off when you smile
Don't get me wrong
if I split like light refracted
I'm only off to wander
across a moonlit night
Once in a while
two people meet
seemingly for no reason
thye just pass on the street
Suddenly thunder, showers everywhere
Who can explain the thunder and rain
But there's something in the air
Don't get me wrong
if I come and go like fashion
I might be great tomorrow
but hopeless yesterday
Don't get me wrong
if I fall in "mode of passion"
It might be unbelievable
But let's not say "So long"
It might just be fantastic
Don't get me wrong
