When we were kids, we would get into all kinds of mischief and would frequently get ourselves injured, be it scratches, cuts or bumps. And after we get better, we just plunge ourselves back into danger.
Yet seems that when we get older, our threshold of pain becomes lesser, or rather we become more adverse to the concept of pain. Perhaps it's because the knowledge of how pain feels strikes us even before we actually experience it and somehow a sort of fear develops. We become afraid to go through pain and will avoid it if we can.
But come to think of it, maybe it's just a survival instinct. We take a wrong step that leads to pain and that sorts of warns us that it's a wrong move. We would then learn from the mistake lest we experience that same pain again. Having been through pain before does not make us immune to the same pain.
However as we go through different kinds of pain throughout our lives, would be end up being a coward to pain? How many of us will subject ourselves through pain knowingly? And if we do, is it really worth the pain?
No pain, no gain. But if we were to repeatedly try hard at something without success, the pain could be so unbearable that it'd be reason to give up.
Life is indeed a painful process but we all choose how much pain we can take.
