Gunung Pelapah

It is barely just 3 months since my ascent of Mount Kinabalu and now I am seeking adventure again. My friend had tried to coax me to trek up Gunung Pelapah in Kota Tinggi, Malaysia.

I had been up to my neck with work in the past weeks and I was in somewhat a transitional phase in my life during this period. There was just a lot of stuff going on in my mind. Yet despite working till quite late the day before, I decided not to disappoint my friend and thought of this trip as a form of release for my frustrations.

We had a quick breakfast and joined up with some Youth Group who were the organisers of this trip. Gunung Pelapah was a mountain with plenty of flora and fauna that is very much untouched by civilisation, but saying that also means there was no defined path or route. Much of the navigation depended on the Youth guides who have trekked this mountain before.

There was nothing short of going down on your hands and knees to cross obstacles and scale up the heights of the mountain. Somehow it reminded me of my National Service days as we had to survive in the jungle outfield. Overall the trip was fun and we made many new friends.
