It's a small world after all!

At the recommendation of a friend, I decided to download Google Earth and give it a go. Google Earth is a software that makes use of satellite images from a number of sources to view our world. Ever since I started, I've been quite hooked on it, visiting places I have been the past few years and even places where my friends and relatives are residing, as well as landmark locations like the Eiffel Tower. It is so much more interesting than looking at a plain old map.

It is said that the world is seemingly growing smaller and how true it is. With affordable and efficient transport systems, land, air and sea, travelling to places around the world is a cinch. Jule Verne's dream of Around the World in 80 Days can actually be accomplished at a fraction of the time. With the Internet, we can reach out and communicate with people from almost anywhere on the globe via email and what-have-yous. And now with Google Earth, we can even view far off places from the comfort of your home PC.

A childhood song comes to mind - It's a small world after all!

It's a Small World
It's a world of laughter
And a world of tears
It's a world of hopes
And a world of fears
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all

There is just one moon
And a golden sun
And a smile means
Friendship to every one
Though the mountains divide
And the oceans are wide
It's a small world after all

(Chorus)
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world
