Band of Brothers

I don't want to end up rushing through life because we will never know when we will leave this world. There is so much of the world to see and in our hurry, we might miss out beautiful facets of this world such as the everyday sunrise. In our hurry, we may even forget friends or relatives and lead private and enclosed lives.

A few friends and I got together during the weekend to cross the borders into a neighbouring nation. Due to our commitments at work, we had not met up in quite a while. We decided to make a short trip into Johor Bahru, Malaysia for a day of wholesome fun. Perhaps absence did made the heart grow fonder for the moment we met, we engaged in an endless happy banter.

We chatted non-stop from our journey across the Causeway and only paused when we stuffed our mouths during lunch. We did a little shopping in the city and later made our way towards the Johor Bahru International Ferry Terminal for dinner. The sumptuous spread of seafood coupled with the ambience of the cool water side and the lively company of comrades certainly made it the highlight of the evening.

It was a feast to remember as we gobbled down the remaining pieces of the finger-licking good Black Pepper Crab, and made merry till the sun fell from the sky. Though it was a slow trip back to Singapore due to the heavy traffic, with a full tummy and happy heart, none of us complained. This lovely memory reminds me not to take comradeship for granted.
