Some time back Wendy from the Xiaxue Blog was being pestered by a fan. Apparently a guy had sent her repeated emails in hope of befriending her. The emails did look a little suspicious and perhaps that is why Wendy chose to ignore him. However the guy didn't catch the drift and she had to reject him out flat. It was then the guy replied with a very rude hate mail, instantly revealing his ugly side.
Many of my female friends have encountered bad experiences with guys before. The common complaint is that the guys always seem to so nice when getting to know them but become horrible beasts after that. They would then conclude that all guys are heartless creatures. Similarly I have male friends who have had bad experiences with women before.
There will always be bad hats in this world. A teacher once told me that it is a few rotten apples that tarnish the reputation of the entire group. Objectively speaking, usually the more flamboyant guys are those who approach girls and many of them already have a string of relationships. On the other hand, the nice guys that some girls desire are often too shy to make the first move.
I have a male friend who once advised his close female classmate that a guy who was wooing her was known to be a cad but in the end she found out the hard way. In a way it is like a vicious cycle. While it may appear quite clearly to the guys that some fellows are cads, many girls strangely can't seem to be able to distinguish such characters. The same works the other way as well where guys can't seem to figure out the nice girls. Just as the song by Bon Jovi, You Give Love A Bad Name goes:
An angel's smile is what you sell
You promise me heaven, then put me through hell
Chains of love got a hold on me
When passion's a prison, you can't break free
You're a loaded gun
There's nowhere to run
No one can save me
The damage is done
(Chorus)
Shot through the heart
And you're to blame
You give love a bad name
I play my part and you play your game
You give love a bad name
