It was a weekend of relaxation and I decided to listen to music. The album I selected was I Wanna Fly by the Taiwanese group, F.I.R. which is the acronym for Fairyland In Reality. The name of the group was probably inspired by the fact that the 3 members of the group have taken a great effort and persistence to fulfil their aspirations of bringing good music to the masses. Their virgin album I Wanna Fly represents their energy and positive determination in achieving goals. Inside the album is a mini booklet and as I flipped through the pages, I came across this beautiful poem written by the lead vocalist Faye entitled Blue Doors Ahead:
I stand up high
plunged in this splendid city light.
There’s no one but me
with gravity I measure life.
I try to hide
from your love and pride.
So many times
I found myself lost in this wonderland and cry.
How can I define
all these blue doors ahead.
Tell me secrets and then make me wild.
Isn’t true Love inside?
I rise and compare
my hand with this city light.
There’s no one but me
and silently, I put down and smile.
Listening to their music and the amazing voice of Faye’s really breathes life into me. Yet what does it take for dreams to become reality? Another song I listened to was Dreams by Gabrielle:
Dreams can come true
Look at me babe I'm with you
You know you gotta have hope
You know you gotta be strong
Dreams and hopes are what fuels life. To fulfil them, you've got to be strong and persistent. Wish your dreams can come true!

I'm not the right person to be talking to about wishing or hopping for dreams to come true at the moment.
However I can relate to your piece about listening to music. The amount of cds that I have amassed in the last week is shocking. And I have been happily bopping, well not bopping, um, 'enjoying' the guitar riffs and the drums and the harmonic vocals all week. I think it's a wonder that my work mates haven't chucked me out of the office.
All you see is a girl moving in time to music (that they cannot hear) as she types away at the keyboard or flips through papers. And every once in a while you can hear her whisper/sing lyrics a little out of tune. It can even be a little unnerving when they have no idea what song it is i'm actually singing/humming/listening to. *sheepish smile*
Well, *overlooks comment* there's my two-cents worth for the week =)
Music can really lift the soul especially when faced with monotonous work. Actually I don't really see anything wrong allowing listening to music at work, after all it can be a great morale booster!
Haha! But don't overdo it and 'entertain' others with off-keys and out-of-tunes.
I try my best, but if I come home with a black eye tonight, we'll know why. FYI: staplers *hurt* when thrown.
THe nice thing about music at work, or even in general (especially when you're wearing headphones) is that they block out the world. ANd you can pretend to hide (albeit for a little while) from the 'slings and arrows' of reality.
of course, that doesn't mean that music will necessarily protect us from the 'slings and arrows' in our own heads...
