Many times people ponder the meaning of life...
In fact this question has probably been asked billions of times before but no satisfactory answer seems to be ever found. Perhaps the question of our existence bears no answer at all. Or perhaps there are many answers. What life means to you may not mean the same to someone else.
I had recently read a book by Lin Yu Tang entitled "With Love and Irony". Lin Yu Tang lived in a period of post-communist China, a time when modernisation was afoot. He was not abashed to share his views and revealed his honest, "no-holds-barred" opinions on China and the rest of the world. He also shared what was deemed to be the ideal life: Live in an English country house, marry a Japanese wife, hire a Chinese cook and have a French mistress.
I ponder on how these ideals have changed since that time. I would like to live in an English country house as I simply love the warmness of the decor. I do not need a submissive wife but Japanese wives are also known for virtues like being caring. I enjoy the wide variety of tastes and palate the Chinese cuisine has to offer. However, I think I value my Asian values too much to have a French mistress.
Even back then Lin Yu Tang had envisaged a global lifestyle, an indication of the need to accept global mindset...
So what's life then? I guess it is pretty much what you make of it.
