I have been blog-hopping recently, going through some of the things my friends have blogged. I noticed that quite a number were dedicated to post relationship breakups. Apparently blogging seemed like an avenue where one could vent out pent up frustrations and sadness.
I remember the oldies song by Neil Sedaka-Breaking Up is Hard to Do:
Don't take your love away from me
Don't you leave my heart in misery
If you go then I'll be blue
'Cause breaking up is hard to do
Remember when you held me tight
And you kissed me all through the night
Think of all that we've been through
Breaking Up Is Hard To Do
They say that breaking up is hard to do
Now I know, I know that it's true
Don't say that this is the end
Instead of breaking up I wish that we were making up again
I beg of you, don't say goodbye
Can't we give our love another try
Come on baby, let's start a new
'Cause breaking up is hard to do
Breaking up is never easy and the moment after a break up, all of sudden you are plunged into the dark world of loneliness. There seem to be so many questions to be answered: Is it possible to be back again? Is it because of me? What have I done wrong? Yet somehow knowingly the answers are as distant as the stars and not within our grasp.
I was listening to music and realised that also a lot of songs have been dedicated to break ups. Take for example the group Maroon 5 has an entire album dedicated to "Songs about Jane", of which the chorus of the song This Love goes:
This love has taken its toll on me
She said Goodbye too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore
However the song I really like is by Jojo entitled Leave (Get Out):
Get out (leave) right now
it's the end of you and me
it's too late (now) and I can't wait for you to be gone (you to be gone)
cause I know, about her (move)
and I wonder (why)
how I bought all the lies (all the lies)
you said that you would treat me right (you said that you)
but you was just a waste of time (waste of time)
I have heard the cliche advice that goes "Don't look back" but usually before you leave you would like to scream your head out. Ultimately breakups hurt and hopefully time will heal the wounds. Don't ask me for advice as I don't think I am the type who can handle breakups well (though I don't think anyone does either). To put it in the words of Eamon in I don't want you back:
F* what I said it don't mean s* now
F* the presents might as well throw them out
F* all the kisses they didnt mean jack
F* you, you H* i dont want you back!

On the tail end of heartbreak myself, i must concur with your blog. *rueful smile* i didn't know about that jojo song though (am in the midst of downloading right now). lol. i know.. how sad..
But yes, maroon 5 is great. and it is shocking the amount of Dashboard Confessional that seems to ring chords with me. =S
i also noticed a lot of music is dedicated to break ups. i think it's one of the universal things that everyone can relate to. the number of songs related to not just breakups, but love and relationships is endless. i remember there was a time when i was desperately switching radio stations just looking for one song that was *not* about love in some form or other, and i was practically stumped... lol.
Dear Enigmatic Butterfly:
Glad that you like my blog. =) I would like to thank you for your generous comments and hope that you enjoy the song by Jojo as much as I do. *fingers crossed*
Music and blogging are means of expression and perhaps that is why many songs are about love and even breakups, as these are moments of intense emotions.
Hope that you and also my friends would find happiness at the end of it all. ;)
