Enlightenment

Sharing is caring, so here's a story to share:

There was a guy who was so frustrated with life after years of climbing the corporate ladder, decided to call it quits. He heard from a friend that there was this guru that lived in this mountainous region and made up his mind to pay him a visit.

With so much on his mind, upon find the wise man, he just couldn't wait to ask him, "If you are so smart, tell me why do the bad guys always survive and seem to get ahead in life? I'm sick of being the good guy, tell me if I should just turn to being evil?"

The wise man turned to him and said,"I guess it's probably easier to be evil and do things that harm others. Being good is tough and requires discipline. If that is the case, why are you doing good in the first place?"

The guy pondered for a while and replied, "Don't they teach us from young to be good? Somehow something in me just yearns to do the right thing. I can't live with lies and hate, and I don't think I can live myself if I turned evil. But tell me, I just don't feel it's fair, why do the bad guys seem to live longer?"

The man just smiled and said, "Well, if you wish to live longer and endlessly in a cycle of evil, lies and hate, then it is your choice, isn't it?"

Realising that he had answered his own questions, the guy left, thanking the wise man and feeling enlightened.

Life is about choices; you choose how you wish to live your life.
