O little town of Bethlehem

The reason for my absence is that I was on tour to Israel, or the place known as the Holy Land. It is called so as the area hold significant importance to major religions like Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The name Israel in Hebrew means one who struggles with God and is the name given to Jacob after his fight with the angel of God (Genesis 32:28). Indeed despite the status of being holy, peace hangs precariously on a balance in this place.

One of the places in the tour was this humble town of Bethlehem, where Jesus Christ was born. Below is a nice Christmas song that describes this scene:

O little town of Bethlehem
How still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
Yet in the dark streets shineth
The everlasting light
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight

For Christ is born of Mary
And gathered all above
While mortals sleep the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love
O morning stars together
Proclaim the holy birth
And praises sing to God the King
And peace to all on earth

O holy Child of Bethlehem
Descend to us, we pray
Cast out our sin and enter in
Be born in us today
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell
O come to us, abide with us
Our Lord Emmanuel
