Last Lecture

I believe quite a few readers were quite inspired by my earlier blog entry, Time Management and would like to know more about the speaker, Randy Pausch.

Randy Pausch (born October 23, 1960) is a Professor of Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, and Design at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In September 2006, he was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer and pursued a very aggressive cancer treatment that included major surgery and experimental chemotherapy. However, in August 2007, doctors told him that the cancer had metastasized to his liver and spleen and estimated he would remain healthy for another 3 to 6 months.

Pausch, who is dying from pancreatic cancer, gave his last lecture at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) on September 18, 2007. In his moving talk, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals. Below is what some affectionately refer to as the Last Lecture:

You'll never know when it's your time to go, so make the most out of your life.
