It is the new year 2007 and I'm here in Hong Kong... working on a New Year's day. My boss had just informed me a little more than 2 weeks ago that he needed me to go to Hong Kong to settle some work issues. Reluctantly I rushed to pack my stuff into my luggage and did some work preparations before flying off on the 28 December 2006.
Don't get me wrong as Hong Kong is a vibrant city with lots to see and do but going to a place for work and going to place for leisure is a totally different feeling. Perhaps, one of the reasons of my reluctance to come was that I am here alone to support the work here, especially over the new year period, what with the long holiday in Singapore due to Hari Raya.
I was chatting with an uncle, and he told me that he would love to be in a different place every new year because his reasoning was that it would be more memorable. 1990, 2005, 2007 are just numbers representing the years but by being in a different place to celebrate the new year, it would be of greater significance. You would then go back in your memory and say "Hey, I remembered spending 2007 in Hong Kong."
Well there's no point brooding on what has already happened and it would only serve me better if I made the most of this trip. My sincere apologies if I'm unable to blog because of the heavy work commitment here in Hong Kong.
I wish everyone a wonderful 2007 ahead!
