Reason to believe

After reading my earlier entry We don't talk, a female friend decided to give her two cents about the matter. She was telling me how love can be so blind that we can overlook our partner's shortcomings and imperfections.

Then came the issue of trust (See: What's Love?). To what extent can we trust our partner and how much of the so-called shortcomings and imperfections are we willing to overlook? After the initial phase of infatuation, and as we get to know more about our partner, our level of acceptance and tolerance will soon be put to the test.

Next thing is what do we do when partner does something that is considered unacceptable? Are we willing to forgive him/her? At the end of the day, my friend concludes that love itself is a gamble and there's no knowing what to expect.

Rod Stewart - Reason to believe

If I listened long enough to you
I'd find a way to believe that it's all true
Knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believe

*Chorus
Someone like you makes it hard to live without
somebody else
Someone like you makes it easy to give
never think about myself

If I gave you time to change my mind
I'd find a way just to leave the past behind
Knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believe

*Chorus
