Someone from another country (a German guy who moved to the United States of America) once asked me if I thought Singaporeans were overly obsessed with money. He felt that a lot of Singaporeans seem to be caught up in a rat race and do not seem to have a life. He was making this comment after a colleague of mine informed him that another experienced ex-colleague had migrated and was no longer in the company.
Hearing numerous stories of high turnover rates in many local companies here, I sometimes wonder if Singapore is suffering from a brain-drain, that is, the loss of our locally bred talents. The local news seems to talk a lot about the import of foreign talent and how perhaps it could be the solution to the national problem.
However, if the conditions here are wonderful enough to attract the foreign talent, why are our local people moving out? I was looking for answers in cyberspace and stumbled upon an interesting blog here by local blogger Kitana.
Maybe that could be the reason why many Singaporeans (or used to be) are leaving.
