Tsunami Tears

I have decided to publish one poem from my personal collection of poetry in tribute to the tsunami victims and their families. It is entitled Tsunami Tears:

The tears from heaven have dried
But the land is still soaked
The tears from the eyes still trickle
And for some, hope still flickers

It has been one week since the tides crashed
Through the settlements they bashed
Washing away homes and lives
Destroying the entire way of life

And for one week the sky wept
As if mourning the tragic lost
Although people try to salvage what they can
The damage too great to completely mend

We can all try to lend a helping hand
And even plan how to prevent
But forces of nature are hard to comprehend
For which no blame can stand
